                 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF A SECOND 
                 AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH DENNIS W. SMITH 
                 TO PERFORM INSPECTION SERVICES ON CONTRACT NOS. 
                 RW-8-96, 73A-2, 73C AND SWM-3-96, FOR AN 
                 ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION OF FOUR THOUSAND 
                 DOLLARS ($4,000.00) FOR A REVISED TOTAL AMOUNT 
                 OF ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS 
                 ($129,000.00).
                 
                 
                                                     
                 
                 
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that there be and is hereby approved a 
       Second Amendment to the Agreement with Dennis W. Smith to perform 
       inspection services on Contract No. RW-8-96, Widening of Mountain 
       Creek Road, in addition to Contract Nos. 73A-2 and 73C, Big Ridge 
       Collector Sewers IV and V, and Contract No. SWM-3-96, Stormwater 
       Abatement, for a consideration of $4,000.00, effective July 1, 
       1997, so as to increase the total cost from $125,000.00 to 
       $129,000.00.
